Ken was a longtime member or our society.  He was a WWII veteran

Ann Burton
who passed away June 25, 2011.
Ann was a passionate genealogist and gave generously of her time
to our society and the genealogical community.
She was a VBRGS member since 1987 and served on the
board of directors.

Toni Irene (Jackson) Benson
October 25, 1962 - July 5, 2013

Toni was a charter member of the VBRGS and she dedicated the last 26 years to our society as a member of our board of directors serving as president, vice
president, corresponding secretary and librarian. She was the key contributor to the "Van Buren Echoes" and the visionary for most society projects and
events. Toni left us too early....
and with great sadness we say good-bye to a dear friend.

Gerald "Jerry" Phillips
who passed away August 30, 2013
Jerry served the society as secretary and contributed many
volunteer hours to the Southwest Michigan Obituary Project as well
as being a library volunteer. He recently donated his  "Phillips
Family Genealogy" to the Van Buren District Library.

Ila was a long-time member of the society serving on its board of directors as well as
contributing her time and talents to many society and local history projects.

Barbara Jeanne Weller (nee Moon)
who passed away July 9, 2013
Barbara resided in South Bend, IN and had been a VBRGS
member for many years.  Her roots were in southwest Michigan
through her Moon family. She was also an active member of a
genealogy society near her home.

who passed away January 27, 2015
Joan was a life member of our society and shared her passions and talents throughout the genealogical and historical community.
She served as our president and volunteered countless hours to the society and the Van Buren District Library. Joan was also the
website administrator of Van Buren County MIGenWeb. She will be greatly missed.

Rev. Joseph C. Neiman
who passed away April 15, 2015
Joe served for 25 years as the pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Paw Paw. As a lasting legacy to
Paw Paw and the surrounding area he leaves us with two books that he recently published ,
"Historic Paw Paw : in celebration of the sesquicentennial, scenes reproduced from old postcards" (2009)
and "Historic Paw Paw photos : postcard views of historic Paw Paw" (2011)

Amelia B. Castle
who passed away July 23, 2015
Amelia was honored with a Life Membership to the
society for her many years of volunteer service to the
VBRGS and the genealogical community.
She had the distinct honor to hold the ninth
membership card issued by the society in 1987.

Norma Snow Strickler
who passed away May 10, 2016
Norma was a long standing member of the society and served as treasurer on the board of
directors for 17 years. Most recently she was overseeing the completion of the digitization of
the Bangor newspapers along with members of  the Bangor Historical Society.
Norma was also as member of the Captain Samuel Felt Chapter of the DAR.

who passed away October 7, 2017
Carole was honored, along with her husband David, in
2012 with a Life Membership to the VBRGS as a thank
you for their contributions made to the Van Buren District
Library and to the genealogical community.

Robert A. Wagel
who passed away December 31, 2017
Bob enjoyed sharing his love for family and historical research with other fellow genealogists. For many years he and his wife Jane have been  
very active volunteers in the genealogical community and  members of the VBRGS.
Bob was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution where he was a past national trustee and state President as well as a multi-term
President of the Sauk Trail Chapter. He was a proud member of The First Families of Kentucky, The First Families of Maryland, The Society of
Colonial Wars, The Founders and Patriots of America and a Charter Member of The Order of the Founders of North America 1492-1692.

William E. Slack
who passed away July 27, 2018
Bill was an active member in the community and worked
to help preserve our history. He was a member of the
VBRGS as well as the Oshtemo Historical Society and
served his country proudly from 1960 to 1964 in the U.S
Air Force.
